Our Approach
Community social planning comes down to the practice of good citizenship.
It’s not just about doing things, but about the way we do them.
Community social planning is a local, democratic activity that involves community members in the decision making process. Participation and inclusion are key components for priority-setting.
Our approach to social planning is:
- Local: We are your neighbours and we are invested in the needs of the local community
- Equitable: We see and treat all citizens as equals and believe every voice matters
- Inclusive: We work closely with local citizens, community agencies, and policymakers with a shared commitment to community wellbeing
- Data-driven: Research and data help us understand the issues and collaborate on solutions
- Transparent: There are no closed door decisions in a social planning process
- Independent: We are a non-partisan and non-governmental, citizen-based organization working on behalf of our community
- Dialogue-based: We believe good decisions stem from informed debate, open communication, diverse perspectives and respectful dialogue
